Pressure release
Throughout the book, Junior tends to make fun himself. He makes fun of his heritage, culture, and the way he looks and acts. I think he does this to relieve some of the pressure that gets put on him. Some of the pressure he puts on himself by going to a different school, but some of the pressure is from his given position in society. I am of course talking about how he is a minority and how he has a mental handicap and lets face it some people can be racist or just plain mean. So to relieve this pressure that has been put on him, he makes fun of himself. Its something that I think we all should do. Just laugh a little.

" I am a rock" (metaphorically)
My favorite picture from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, is the one on page 33 . Its my favorite because it reminds me of a song by Simon and Garfunkel called " I am a rock". The song is about a man blocks himself from the rest of the world and puts himself on a metaphorical island. He does this because people make fun of him because he likes to read and write poetry, but no matter what they say about him, he doesn't care so therefore he is metaphorically a rock on an island. Junior is like this because at Reardan he is the only Indian, so metaphorically he is on an island with only his drawings and no matter what people say about him, he doesn't change, just like a rock.

Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson; the author of the Declaration of Independence, one of the Founding Fathers, and eventually the third president of the United States. In that presidency there was the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Thomas Jefferson lived in Virginia, in his house famously known as Monticello. Thomas Jefferson spent most of his life, including his presidency, working on his house and when he died he believed it still wasn't finished. Thomas Jefferson owned 600 slaves all of which lived on the Monticello plantation. Owning 600 slaves made him the biggest slave holder in all of Virginia. Its ironic how the biggest fan of liberty and equal rights ( both of which he often wrote about) in history was the biggest slave holder in all of Virginia. When he died, all 600 of his slaves went to his funeral, as free men and women.

The Climate Killers
Warren Buffett (CEO of Berkshire Hathaway), Rupert Murdoch (CEO of News Corporation), Jack Gerard (President of American Petroleum), Rex Tillerson (CEO of ExxonMobil), Senator Mary Landrieu (Democrat from Louisiana), Marc Morano (Founder of Climate Depot), Senator James Inhofe (Rpublican from Oklahoma), Dick Gephardt (CEO of Gephardt), David Ratcliffe (CEO of Southern Company), George Will (Commentator for ABC), Tom Donohue (President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce), Don Blankeship (CEO of Massey Energy), Fred Singer (Retired physicist at the University of Virginia), Representitive Joe Barton (Republican from Texas), and last but not least, Senator John McCain. Lets do the math. Wow 17 people, thats a long list of people. Now some of you may not know who these people are. These are the 17 people who have been lobbying against the efforts on global warming. Some of them are owners of Big Oil companies or owners of Big Coal companies. Others are Democrats or Republicans or from the media. All these people have one thing in common, they all don't believe in global warming and they are doing everything to destroy the efforts on cleaning up America's air. From voting against bills to spreading lies on the media. So if the world as we know it ends tomorrow, we can blame them.

The Month That Saved America
April 1846 was the month that saved America because it was the month that the civil war officially ended and millions of african americans became free. As we all know the civil war could have ended very differently. If the South wouldn't have surrendered the war would have lasted probably for a few more years and would have ended in a stalemate and millions of african americans would still be slaves.
